State Highway 5 Corridor Plan,

City of McKinney, Texas

Creating the Redevelopment Context for an Aging Commercial Corridor

Jay Narayana, Principal, currently teaming with project lead Kimley-Horn and Associates and Gateway Planning, has been working with the City of McKinney and the North Central Texas Council of Governments (NCTCOG) to create a corridor plan for the 6 miles of State Highway 5 through McKinney.

Focus on Tailoring the Roadway Cross Section to the Neighborhood Context

In developing a corridor plan with the City of McKinney, affected property owners and the Texas Department of Transportation (TxDOT),the team has not only created roadway cross sections for the different context zones, but has also developed redevelopment concepts for key catalytic locations along the corridor. A key to implementing this corridor vision is to create a long-term redevelopment dynamic that can then be the value-capture tool for the investment in the needed infrastructure.
